The Woodlake Neighborhood Watch Committee and Welcome Committee are combined as the Welcome & Watch Committee. In addition to welcoming new residents, this committee promotes community and home safety & awareness and crime prevention programs for the Woodlake community. It serves as a hub for communication regarding crime and suspicious behavior in the Woodlake community.

The Welcome & Watch Committee is directed by a Chair plus Area Coordinators and Block Captains. Please make sure that you know your Block Captain and that they know how to contact you for routine or emergency matters. We are currently recruiting volunteers for these roles. The level of monthly commitment is typically low, around 2 hours a month. Please This email address is being protected from spambots. The Welcome & Watch Committee encourages residents to know their neighbors and may host events, like an ice cream social or area BBQ, to facilitate interactions, and will collaborate with the Recreation Committee.

Residents should report crime and suspicious behavior both to Durham Police (911 for emergencies or (919) 560-4600 for non-emergencies) AND also This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

When reporting and/or posting, it is imperative that we avoid descriptions that may appear as racial profiling. These WHOA Neighborhood Watch Reporting Guidelines provide information from the Neighbors for Racial Justice organization to prompt reflection and guide the objective sharing of information.

If there is a high-level incident or a pattern of incidents, a notice will be posted to the Woodlake Facebook group and an email sent to those subscribed to the neighborhood listserv.
We encourage residents to be proactive to reduce the opportunity for criminal activity. See the links below for home and vehicle safety tips.
